Study Jamz Tutoring (Oct. 1)

Work with members of SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers) and NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) to provide tutoring for general engineering courses (e.g., MATH 115/116/215/216, PHYSICS 140/240, CHEM 130) in a group setting. This is a great chance to help out the engineering community on campus while getting to know members of these engineering organizations. Snacks will be provided!

MindSET 1: Water Bottle Rockets

Earn K-12 Service Hours and teach kids in our community about engineering with this MindSET event! Volunteers will serve as mentors for local students, guiding them in their journey to discover why some of Michigan's top engineering students love what they do.
If this is your first MindSET of this semester it is strongly recommended that you attend the 30-minute MindSET Volunteer Training Session the Friday evening before the event for an additional service hour.

Executive Team Office Hours

To better serve the Michigan Gamma chapter and provide transparency to the members and electees, the officer corps hosted weekly office hours. The office hours consisted of onehours per officer team, during business hours of 9am to 5pm, that do not overlap which each other. Thus, the weekly total of office hours are about 3 hours.

Engineering Futures with J.P. Blackford

Since the 1980s, the Engineering Futures (EF) program has provided professional skills training to help engineering students and practitioners develop non-technical skills that are essential for personal and professional success.
These in-person sessions will be facilitated by J.P. Blackford, who served as President of the Tau Beta Pi Association from 2014-2016 and has facilitated Engineering Futures sessions around the country since 2003.

NROTC Group Tutoring (Oct. 2, Oct. 4)

The Navy Reserve Officers' Training Corps (NROTC) at the University of Michigan has academic standards and is looking for tutors to assist their students, with a focus on introductory Math and Physics courses:

PHYSICS 140/240
You will report to the NROTC wardroom (CHEM 1018), located on the west side of the Chemistry building. The fastest way to find it is to use the entrance nearest to the Kinesiology building and immediately turn right. Once you arrive, check in with Collin Wys, the NROTC Academics Officer, who will make sure you get credit for tutoring.

Merit Badge Day

At Merit Badge Day, Scouts will explore the world of engineering and earn their Digital Technology, Programming, Electronics and Engineering Merit Badges. Scouts will learn about programming and engineering in a fun environment through multiple activities, including developing programs on an Arduino and designing simple websites, as well as learning about important topics in engineering. Scouts will learn from engineering students across several disciplines, and learn more about what it means to be an engineer.

CSD Information/Training Session

For those volunteering for Cub Scouts Day on Sunday, November 19th, we will hold an informational/training session to prepare for the event. We will provide information on the event schedule as well as advice for working on engineering modules with kids. Cub Scouts Day is a very fun event, and we hope everyone is excited!

Cub Scouts Day

Welcome to Cub Scouts Day!
This event is one of the chapter's largest annual service programs for K-12 outreach. Cub Scouts Day is a wonderful opportunity to inspire the next generation of engineers through several fun hands-on activities! As a volunteer, you will work with a group of local cub scouts to complete an engineering design challenge such building bridges or protecting an egg during the Egg Drop. CSD is a fun way to be involved with the community, and we hope to see you there!
