SEFMD Virtual Judging

The Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit is looking for virtual judges, especially in the life sciences area. Sign up to be a judge by visiting > Judging > Judge Registration.

This is a great opportunity for DA/PA status, as you can earn 4+ service hours by volunteering!

Deadline to sign up: February 19 (preferably sign up ASAP)

Details on judging process:

  • Late February, 2021 – group judge training session via zoom (1 hour). Date TBD

  • Thursday, March 3, 8 AM to Friday, March 4 – Preliminary Judging consisting of Round 1, 2, and 3 of all the projects (Elementary Division, Junior Division, and Senior Division) without the students. You will be required to participate in a 15-20 minute online training video prior to actual judging. You should plan on a minimum of 4 hours judging (does not need to be done all at once)

  • Saturday, March 5 to Sunday, March 6, 5:00 PM special contingency judging if the judging is not completed by Friday, March 4. Emphasis on Junior and Elementary Division Projects

  • Wednesday, March 10 from 8:30 AM to noon. Final round of judging with virtual interviews with the students. Highly recommended that you participate in one of the preliminary rounds before you sign up for this round. You will need to be available for the entire duration without interruptions since the interviews will be pre-assigned and timed.
