Students with disabilities in engineering must navigate spaces that contain inherent social and physical barriers. This presentation will share results from a mixed methods study, including findings from a survey about attitudes towards accommodations and norms in engineering, and interviews with undergraduate engineering students. The goal of this work is to improve accessibility and the field of engineering education to be better to support students with disabilities.
Don’t miss this opportunity to engage in a 35-minute talk followed by a 15-minute discussion, connect with fellow engineers, and explore how engineering can promote accessibility, inclusivity, and social impact.

Family STEM Night with Backyard Brains

Backyard Brains is a start-up company based in Ann Arbor promoting education in neuroscience and neural engineering. They are joining Bach elementary school's family STEM night to teach elementary school students about brain machine interfaces using micro:bit.
They are looking for 5-10 volunteers. They will provide dinner and ride. On-site training is 5:30 to 6:00 pm, and the event is 6:00 to 7:30 pm.

We will be inviting several middle schools from the larger Detroit area to University of Michigan for a day focused on engineering! We will spend the day with several hands-on modules and activities.
Middle schoolers from the Detroit area will be in attendance from 10AM-4PM for various engineering related activities (will share exact details with volunteers). We need volunteers to help us run the activities (similar to CSD/MBD) and other event aspects like set up and tear down.

The Winter 2025 Semesterly Banquet

Each semester, the outstanding members of the chapter are recognized at a dinner/awards ceremony hosted immediately following initiation. The best electees, electee teams, project leads, and more are recognized. Superlatives are exchanged, and a fun activity is given to the attendees. This friendly competition ends the night after recognizing the achievements of the chapter and its members over the past semester.
We have several MANDATORY requirements, detailed in the Official TBP MI-G Banquet Sign-up form. Admittance will not be approved without completing all the requirements, so read carefully and direct questions to tbp.banquet@umich.edu or Kayley Ge.

NROTC Group Tutoring (April 21)

The Navy Reserve Officers' Training Corps (NROTC) at U-M is seeking tutors to assist students in introductory Math and Physics courses:

Directions: Use the Chemistry Building entrance nearest the Kinesiology Building, then immediately turn right.
Check-In: Upon arrival, check in with Anna M. Richmond, the NROTC Academics Officer, or the designated proctor of the day to receive credit for your tutoring efforts.

Order of the Engineer

The Order of the Engineer Ceremony seeks to promote professionalism and ethics in engineering. Graduates who participate in the ceremony receive a special ring to remind them of their responsibility as an engineer. The event is available to all graduating students in the College of Engineering.
As a volunteer, you will provide assistance for setup, sign-in, food, etc. Dress code will be business casual.

Summer Engineering Exploration Camp Counselor

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is recruiting counselors for their annual Summer Engineering Exploration Camp, a week-long opportunity for high school students to dive into STEM-related interests. This popular camp receives around 400 applicants every season and is an incredible way to inspire the next generation of engineers.
