Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to accelerate progress by helping experts make better decisions, collaborate and tackle complex challenges. However, AI systems learn from experts' decisions rather than how or why they made those decisions. For example, if we watch Youtube videos on food, or politics, AI tends to recommend more of the same videos, without understanding why or when we decide to watch something. To become true assistants to support our work, AI systems need to understand our underlying motivations, goals and expertise of users. In this talk, he will talk about how humans make decisions in complex scenarios, and how can AI understand our reasoning behind the decisions to enhance our decision-making rather than reiterating our prior choices.

Cub Scouts Day

The University of Michigan Engineering Webelos Engineering Day brings together scouts on campus to investigate the importance of STEM careers. Scouts spend the day working collaboratively with University of Michigan engineering students via several hands-on modules. Through conversations with students and team building activities such as the egg drop challenge, scouts can learn about engineering applications from their own first hand experiences. The University of Michigan has a long standing tradition of hosting Webelos Engineering Day to promote engineering to the next generation within a fun, interactive environment.

We are organizing Engineering day for Girl scouts for the first time in collaboration with GradSWE and MEGC. The Winter 2025 Semesterly Banquet

Each semester, the outstanding members of the chapter are recognized at a dinner/awards ceremony hosted immediately following initiation. The best electees, electee teams, project leads, and more are recognized. Superlatives are exchanged, and a fun activity is given to the attendees. This friendly competition ends the night after recognizing the achievements of the chapter and its members over the past semester.
We have several MANDATORY requirements, detailed in the Official TBP MI-G Banquet Sign-up form. Admittance will not be approved without completing all the requirements, so read carefully and direct questions to tbp.banquet@umich.edu or Kayley Ge.

The Order of the Engineer Ceremony seeks to promote professionalism and ethics in engineering. Graduates who participate in the ceremony receive a special ring to remind them of their responsibility as an engineer. The event is available to all graduating students in the College of Engineering.

Summer Engineering Exploration Camp Counselor

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is recruiting counselors for their annual Summer Engineering Exploration Camp, a week-long opportunity for high school students to dive into STEM-related interests. This popular camp receives around 400 applicants every season and is an incredible way to inspire the next generation of engineers.
