NEST Engineering Skills Series - CAD/Solidworks

Event Type: Professional Development

The NEST Engineering Skills Series is a new series of workshops in the spirit of TBP's NEST program where MI-G members will gain hands-on experience with valuable engineering skills and tools, regardless of major or experience level.

CAD, or computer-aided design, is an engineering skill ubiquitous for designing and simulating physical objects and assemblies. CAD is used extensively by professionals and hobbyists alike and this workshop will introduce you to the basics of Solidworks, a popular CAD software. This is a great opportunity to learn a valuable skill for both industry and personal projects and no prior experience is needed!

NEST, or New Engineering Solutions for Tomorrow, is a national engineering competition ran by TBP where participating chapters develop an engineering solution to a new global issue chosen at National Convention every year. The MI-G NEST team won the Waste Management challenge last year and came in second for the Resource Insecurity challenge this year. To learn more about NEST, visit the NEST website or join the #nest-resource-insecurity and #nest-natural-disasters channels.
